Claire Malet

My work is inspired by the rich textures and sculpted shapes of natural forms and landscapes. I also draw inspiration directly from the natural qualities and characteristics of metal. It is vital to me that the metal is allowed to suggest a direction. I feel a strong sense of collaboration and intimacy with the materials, tools and process of making. Pieces are worked using raising, chasing, reticulation, drawing directly onto the metal, and a variety of invented techniques.
