Flat chased and formed on wood. A simple and curvaceous variation on the larger Whirlpool Rosewater Bowl. Linear chased lines on the silver are complimented by sweeping curves, forming a wide bowl.
240x240x70mm Fine Silver.
Miriam Hanid
I use the techniques of chasing, repoussé and forming on wood. The chased decoration is started first while the piece is flat and the form built up afterwards; a specialist technique I have adopted.
The sea has influenced the work I produce. My hand sketches and photographs documenting the coastline of my home town Lowestoft, are scattered around my workspace. Motifs from water inspire sculptural manifestations of movement, which bring a static space to life.
